Co-founder, NutraDetective
Ahnjonee Tartt co-founded NutraDetective with her husband, DeJuan Tartt.
Ahnjonee grew up in Oakland, California. Her mom took her to a local health food store, and she loved fruits and vegetables from a young age. Family favorites like collard greens and cornbread dressing were some of the first dishes she learned to cook.
In 2013, some everyday foods started making her sick, but her allergy tests came back negative. Ahnjonee has a background in academic research. So she started reading every ingredient list and looking up what each word meant.
Ahnjonee and DeJuan spent more than ten years learning what is in their food. Most people don't have ten years. So they built an app that does the looking up for you, right in the store aisle.
Ahnjonee and DeJuan co-author the articles on this site and review them before they go live. Neither of them is a doctor or a dietitian. They work to link each health claim to the source it comes from, like the FDA or a published study.
They are not perfect, and mistakes can happen. If you see something that is not quite right, please let them know. They will look into it and make changes where needed.
