What happened in the Wise Wife cinnamon recall
The Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station collected a sample of the cinnamon and tested it. The test found elevated levels of lead. SLR Food Distribution Inc., of Hicksville, New York, announced the recall on October 29, 2026. The FDA posted the notice the same day.
The notice doesn't say when the test was done. It doesn't give the lead level or a count of containers. It doesn't name stores or say where the cinnamon came from.
This isn't the first Wise Wife cinnamon recall. On September 26, 2025, the same company recalled a different product. It was Wise Wife brand Ground Cinnamon in a 1.76 oz (50 g) clear plastic jar, black lid. Its UPC is 0 688474 302853.
That 2025 recall was also for possible elevated lead, found by an FDA analysis. The FDA classified it Class II and lists it as completed and terminated. The company says it no longer sells that product. No illnesses were reported.
Where did the 2025 jar go? The company's notice lists seven states: New Jersey, New York, Florida, Maryland, Minnesota, Oklahoma and Ohio. FDA's Enforcement Report lists five, without New Jersey and Maryland. It was distributed between February 15, 2024 and June 28, 2025.
The two recalls are different packages with different UPCs. The new recall is the 110 g (3.88 oz) container, UPC 0688474302754.

Lead: what to know
Here's what the notice says about lead. Short-term exposure to very low levels may cause no symptoms. A higher blood lead level may be the only sign.
Children are the bigger concern. The risk comes with a long exposure, such as weeks to months. If a child takes in enough lead for that long, the central nervous system may be damaged for good.
That can lead to learning disorders. It can also lead to developmental defects and other long-term health problems.
No illnesses have been reported to date.
Also recalled for lead: Lior cinnamon.
