What to do if you have the recalled fruit cocktail

The FDA record has no consumer instructions and no phone number. So here's the FDA's general advice for a recalled food.

Recalled products can often go back to the store for a full refund. If you can't return it, wrap it securely before putting it in the trash. Don't give it to others, such as a food bank or a pet.

Have symptoms after eating it? The FDA says to contact your health care provider.

Lead: what to know

The FDA says there is no known safe level of exposure to lead. The record for this recall doesn't give a lead amount.

The very young are especially vulnerable. The FDA says that's because of their smaller body size and rapid growth. High lead exposure in the womb, in infancy and in early childhood can cause harm. The FDA names learning disabilities, behavior difficulties and lowered IQ.

Adults can be affected too. The FDA says long-term lead exposure in adults is linked to three things. They are kidney problems, high blood pressure and effects on thinking.

Also recalled for lead: Wise Wife ground cinnamon and Lior cinnamon.
