Why sesame has to be on the label

The FDA says the FASTER Act "identifies sesame as the ninth major food allergen." Since January 1, 2023, sesame must be labeled as an allergen on packaged foods and dietary supplements.

The nine major food allergens are milk, eggs, fish, crustacean shellfish, tree nuts, peanuts, wheat, soybeans and sesame.
