Soy and almond allergy signs to watch for

This recall matters to people with a soy or tree nut allergy. The notice says they may be at risk of a serious reaction.

Soybeans and tree nuts are two of the nine major food allergens. A 2004 law named eight. The FASTER Act added sesame, with labeling required from January 1, 2023.

The FDA lists these signs of an allergic reaction:

  • Hives, or flushing or rash
  • Itching or tingling in the mouth
  • Swelling of the face, tongue or lips
  • Vomiting or diarrhea, or stomach cramps
  • Coughing or wheezing
  • Dizziness or lightheadedness
  • Swelling of the throat and vocal cords
  • Trouble breathing
  • Loss of consciousness

Signs can start within a few minutes to a few hours after eating the food.

A severe reaction is called anaphylaxis, and it can be life-threatening. The FDA says symptoms may seem mild at first. If not treated promptly, they can become life-threatening in a short time.

No reactions to this product have been reported to date.

Also recalled for allergens: WinCo hoagie rolls (sesame) and Cabricharme cheese (egg).
